Celebrating Europe Day 2025

Under the slogan “Celebrate Europe,” Europe Day 2025 in Kosovo was marked with an inclusive programme running from April to mid-May. Activities were held in ten municipalities across Kosovo, engaging more than 5,000 citizens. The aim was to promote the core values of the European Union: peace, solidarity, equality, and cooperation through art, education, culture, and innovation.

 
Team Europe Outreach in Schools
The celebrations began in late April with a series of school visits to primary schools in Vushtrri/Vučitrn, Kamenicë/Kamenica, Malishevë/Mališevo, and Pristina. Pupils engaged in interactive discussions with representatives of EU member states and EULEX, discussing about fundamental EU values such as peace, democracy, and human rights. The activities included educational games and the donation of the illustrated children’s book “The Planet Defenders.”



Masterclass and Mural in Mitrovica North
On 6 May, Europe House Mitrovica North hosted the masterclass “The Wandering Traveler” led by muralist Vuk Đurić (Endo), who guided participants in combining mural art, photography, and graphic design, teaching them how to master visual storytelling and build cooperation through art.On 9 May 2025, Vuk Đurić and Stefan Bošković transformed a building in Mitrovica North with a striking mural that celebrates EU values.
European Film Festival in Gjilan/Gnjilane
From 6 to 8 May, Gjilan/Gnjilane’s City Theatre hosted the European Film Festival (EFF), screening films from countries such as Italy, Croatia, Austria, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Greece, and others. The screenings were attended by diplomatic representatives from participating embassies, and audiences had the opportunity to reflect through powerful cinematic storytelling.

Chopin Piano Fest Opening Concert in Pristina
On 7 May, in partnership with Chopin Piano Fest, the festival’s opening concert was held at the Amphitheatre of the National Library in Pristina, featuring acclaimed Polish pianist Maria Gabrys-Heyke. The event brought classical European music to the city centre with, what has by now become a traditional Europe Day concert.

Europe Day Children’s Caravan
From 7 to 9 May, the Europe Day Children’s Caravan made stops in Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje, Peja/Peć, and Pristina with creative workshops, educational games, and group activities designed to promote cooperation, imagination, and solidarity among children. The events were held in public squares and schools and engaged hundreds of children and parents.

“Europe in Miniature” Exhibition with BONEVET
On 9 May, Europe House Pristina hosted the “Europe in Miniature” exhibition in collaboration with BONEVET. Children showcased 3D models of European landmarks, created using laser-cutting technology and their own creativity.

Europe Day Celebrations at Zahir Pajaziti Square, Pristina
On 9 May, Zahir Pajaziti Square in Pristina became the heart of the festivities, welcoming thousands of citizens. The programme featured:

•  Team Europe Fair, with booths hosted by EU member state embassies.

•   A performance of the European anthem by pupils from Faik Sylka Music School and a children’s music programme by the Okarina Choir.

•  An evening concert featuring performances by Yll Matoshi, Diana Mehmetaj & Band, Majlinda Cikaqi & Band, and Capital T, delivering a night of energy and celebration.

 Concert in Mitrovica North
On the evening of 9 May, a celebratory concert was held at Mitrovica Rock School Pub featuring the bands The Bad Week and Something Went Wrong, engaging youth and lovers of alternative music in a night full of energy.

Startup Europe Week 2025
From 12 to 16 May, in partnership with ICK, Startup Europe Week offered sessions on AI and cybersecurity, mentoring, networking, and presentations by EU-funded startups. Participants explored collaboration and growth opportunities through platforms like EEN and EYE. The event concluded the month’s Europe Day celebrations by empowering Kosovo’s entrepreneurial and innovation community.
